OakLeaf Singles Ladder Rules
(For Men and Women)
1) Those who wish to be included on
the singles ladder should email or otherwise notify
the tennis shop, at which time their name will be
added.
2) Individuals who are NOT in the ladder system may
"enter" by setting their names at the bottom
and challenging up. At the discretion of the ladder
coordinator, they may be given one "free"
challenge anywhere on the rungs...with the understanding
they will go to last position should they lose.
3) The Challenge Ladder system commenced on December
18, 2005.
4) The Director of Tennis will establish the initial
positions from top to bottom at his discretion.
5) Each week, the ladder will be updated to reflect
the new positions, based on the match results from
the previous week, and will be published on the OakLeaf
Tennis website (www.olptennis.com).
6) Challenges may be made by email, in person, or
over the telephone and should allow a window of 10
days from the date of the challenge for the match
to be played.
7) All matches will consist of two out of three sets,
tiebreakers to be played at 6-all in all sets. CLICK
HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR MATCH RESULTS ONLINE or report
your scores promptly to the tennis shop.
8) The challenger is responsible for reserving a court
and providing a new can of balls for the match.
9) Challengers may challenge only 5 positions above
their own...that is, player number 13 may challenge
12, 11, 10, 9 or 8.
10) Once played and defeated, the challenger may not
challenge the same individual again until challenging
another or defending once their own position.
11) Should the challenger win the match, they will
take the place of the one defeated, who will drop
one spot lower as a result of that loss.
12) It is important that the day and time be mutually
agreeable to both players and USTA rules will apply
in all circumstances. A player who is unable or refuses
to accept a challenge, regardless of reason, will
default that individual match.
13) The winner will be held responsible for reporting
the results of all matches, which should be done within
24 hours. That information should be: 1) date of the
match, 2) winner's name, 3) loser's name, 4) Score.
14) Players who have a pending ladder match may not
engage in any ladder matches until the first is done.
15) All rules and disputes will be settled by the
Director of Tennis who is ladder coordinator and his/her
decision will be deemed final.
